Templeton Police seek hit-and-run driver who ran over Winchendon woman

possible hit-and-run-driverTempleton police are seeking the public's help in locating a hit-and-run driver who injured Winchendon resident Gina Giancola on Sunday, October 6 in the rear parking lot of The Thirsty Turtle Pub in Templeton. Police are circulating the photo at right as a person of interest in the case.

Ms. Giancola was leaving the Pub at approximately 12:55 a.m. with friends. A Toyota pickup truck with a four-wheel ATV in the bed backed up at high speed, hitting Ms. Giancola so that her head struck the pavement and she lost consciousness. The truck then ran over Ms. Giancola's leg as it left the lot, breaking three bones in her ankle. A second person's foot was run over by the truck but he was not seriously injured.

The driver ignored people running after his truck shouting at him to stop and departed in the direction of the fire station. Ms. Giancola stated that the driver was having "some kind of argument" with someone, but it did not involve her or her friends. She thinks the driver may be from outside the area and was in Templeton to ride his ATV on trails or attend an event that day at Crow Hill Motor Sports Park in Baldwinville.

Ms. Giancola's foot will be in a cast for six weeks, and she may need surgery.

Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to contact Templeton dispatch at 978-939-5638.
