DECEMBER 24, 1942 ~ NOVEMBER 28, 2019 (AGE 76)


WINCHENDON – Louis C. Scerra, 76, of 27 Baldwinville Road, died Thursday evening, November 28, 2019 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on December 24, 1942, son of the late Farndy and Bertha (Blanchette) Scerra and attended Narragansett Regional High School. He had lived in Winchendon for over 50 years.
Lou owned and operated the former Lou’s Package Store in Winchendon for many years. In recent years, he also worked as a clerk at Mr. Mike’s. Lou proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 American Legion. He enjoyed cooking, grocery shopping and his pets. Years ago, he enjoyed doing woodworking projects around his home.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Lyn M. (Pavlosky) Scerra; two daughters, Nadine R. Boutelle and her husband Wesley Jr of Winchendon and Valerie A. Caron and her husband Steven of Gardner; a sister, Michele Jenkins of Vero Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren, Augustin, Kiel, Carissa, Christopher, Sadie, Sydney, Chelsea and Nicholas and two great grandchildren, Ava and Mia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Celeste Bruce and brothers, Donald Scerra and Michael Scerra.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 10 AM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, December 2, 2019 from 5 to 7 P.M. Members of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 will conduct a military ritual Monday at 6:30 P.M.

David Henry Bishop
APRIL 13, 1934 ~ NOVEMBER 11, 2019 (AGE 85)


David Henry Bishop 85, was born in Winchendon, MA April 13, 1934, passed away Nov 11, 2019 at home.
He was the son of Ralph and Beulah (Knower) Bishop of Templeton, MA. He was married to Jeanette MacDonald of Athol for 62 years. They had 5 sons: Scott & Theresa (Alesi); Mark & Victoria (Atkins); Kent and Angela Aguero of San Antonio, TX; Bruce & Julie (Strott) of Huntingtown, MD; Glen & Brenda (Harris) of Phillipston, MA. He leaves 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
David graduated from Templeton High School in 1953 and served in the US Army. In 1969 he moved his family to San Antonio, TX. He was working for Wright Cattle Co. when he lost his sight to MS. He used his knowledge to work with the Boy Scouts for 40+ years on all levels. He was a Silver Beaver recipient and Vigil member of the OA.
Burial will be at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.

AUGUST 17, 1962 ~ NOVEMBER 8, 2019 (AGE 57)


Kenneth (Kenny) Lewis Howard, 57, of Conroe, TX, formerly of Ayer, Lunenburg, Fitchburg and Winchendon, MA died November 8th, 2019 after a hard-fought battle against cancer.
Kenny was born August 17th, 1962 at Fort Devens, MA to David M. Howard and Hannelore M. Hand (Goepfrich). He grew up in Ayer, MA attended Ayer High School. After High school, Kenny served in the United States Marine Corps. Later in life he worked a lot of jobs, but was most often a Painter by trade.
Kenny loved Nascar, they didn’t call him “Ken the Race Nut” for nothing. He was a big fan of New England sports, especially the Patriots and the Bruins, but had recently warmed up to the Houston Texans as well. He also loved fishing, and was known to enjoy a beer or three. The fish will be safer, but the world is going to miss a great guy with a zest for life.
Kenny leaves his parents David M. Howard of Rome, NY and Hannelore M. Hand of Winchendon, MA, a son Timothy L. Howard of Wausau, Wisconsin, a brother David M. Howard, Jr. of Westminster, MA, a sister Crystal A. Duchesne (Howard) and her husband Rob of Winchendon, MA, a sister Lindsey Howard and her husband Chris Keating of Fitchburg, MA as well as his partner and care-taker Sandy Moore and her family of Conroe, TX. He also leaves nieces, nephews, a great-niece and 2 great- nephews, and a bunch of great friends. A brother Mark J. Howard preceded him in death.

Caroline N. Caron

JUNE 24, 1934 ~ DECEMBER 4, 2019 (AGE 85)


JAFFREY, NH – Caroline N. Caron, 85, of 20 Plantation Drive, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, December 4, 2019 in Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her family at her side.
She was born in Fitzwilliam, NH on June 24, 1934, daughter of the late George H. and Dorothy (Thayer) Chase and was a graduate of Murdock High School. Caroline lived in Fitzwilliam for many years then lived in Gardner and Fitchburg and then lived in Jaffrey for the last year.
Caroline had worked in the shipping department at PLP in Fitzwilliam and had also worked as a housekeeper at the Woodbound Inn. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting and coloring.
Her husband, Norman J. Caron, died in 1996. She leaves four children, Ramona Lord and her husband Richard of Fitzwilliam, NH, Sandra Fiffy and her husband Paul of Leominster, Norman J. Caron Jr. and his wife Catherine of Troy, NH and Alison Caron of Jaffrey, NH; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Paul Jr, Shannon, Angela, Brianna, Brittany and Tiffany and five great grandchildren, Cyrus, Mia, Xander, Demetri and Damien, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her sisters, Ruth Whipple, Dorothy Duval, Jane Young and Barbara Miner preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will be held Monday from 12 PM to 1 PM preceding the funeral service.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fitzwilliam, NH in the spring.

AUGUST 22, 1961 ~ NOVEMBER 30, 2019 (AGE 58)


WINCHENDON – Carol A. Harthan, 58, of 162 Mill Street, died Saturday, November 30, 2019 at her residence.
She was born in Athol on August 22, 1961, daughter of the late Virginia Legere and graduated from Athol High School.
Carol had worked as a care giver for the last seven years in Winchendon. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, West End Beagle Club and Gardner Deep Sea Club. She enjoyed playing cribbage, horseshoes and camping. She liked spending time with friends.
She leaves her husband, Randall A. Harthan; a step daughter Alicia Harthan of Gardner and step son Jason Harthan of Sutton; a brother Jack Dower his wife Betty Lou of Gardner, a sister Linda Davis of Fitchburg. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. A sister, Patricia Valliere, predeceased her.
Private funeral services and burial will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street. A celebration of life will follow the service.

SEPTEMBER 13, 1962 ~ DECEMBER 5, 2019 (AGE 57)


WINCHENDON – Richard A. “Woody” Woodward Jr., 57, of 19 Adams Avenue, died unexpectedly Thursday morning in Heywood Hospital Gardner, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on September 13, 1962, son of the late Richard A. “Butch” Woodward and Christy A. (Murphy) Woodward and was a 1980 graduate of Murdock High School. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Army and proudly served his country until his discharge in 1982.
Woody worked for 37 years as a shipper and receiver at New England Woodenware. He was a member of the Baldwinville American Legion and enjoyed playing pool and working on cars.
He leaves his wife of 17 years, Tina (Wilson) Woodward; two children, Shawn M. Woodward and his wife Jillian of Westminster and Nitasha Woodward of Revere; a stepdaughter Felicia Burgess and her husband Kevin of Winchendon; two brothers, Scott S. Woodward and his wife Denise of Templeton and Christopher J. Woodward and his significant other Suzanne Damore of Gardner; a sister Joanne Woodward and her significant other Nathan Martus of Warwick, MA; five grandchildren, Brooke, Colton, Kendra, Laney and Quincy as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 3 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 12 PM to 3 P.M. preceding the funeral.
Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will be at a later date.
