Lauren L. Lucier

LAUREN L. LUCIER
May 22, 1954 ~ February 9, 2020 (Age 65)

WINCHENDON – Lauren L. (Pye) Lucier, 65, of 191 Brown Street, went home to be with the lord on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Bay State Medical Center, Springfield, with her family at her side.

She was born in West Barnstable on May 22, 1954, daughter of the late Vanner E. and Irma (Benedict) Pye she grew up in West Barnstable and had lived in Winchendon for nearly 50 years.

Lauren had worked as a waitress for many years at Williams Restaurant in Gardner, where she was the bartender and assistant manager. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cooking, snowmobiles, watching her grandchildren play. She loved her pets especially her dogs Muffin and Pandora. She treasured time with her family and loved ones. Times she enjoyed the most were traveling across states of New England and beyond with her family when her 3 sons raced Motocross. She especially enjoyed meeting new people and making friends with those around the track. She always recalled those as the best times of her life.

She leaves her husband of 47 years, Christopher E. Lucier; three sons, Christopher Lucier Jr. and his wife Cheyenne of Winchendon, Chad Lucier and his wife Brenda of Chesapeake Bay, MD and Casey Lucier and his wife Dawn of Winchendon. She also leaves six grandchildren, Lexi, Hannah, Nicholas, Lilly, Kennedy and Elijah.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2 P.M. in The United Parish, 39 Front Street, Winchendon. The Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate.

Darlene F. Carter

DARLENE F. CARTER
October 31, 1951 ~ February 16, 2020 (Age 68)

WINCHENDON – Darlene F. (Sawyer) Carter, 68, of 36 Tolman Road, died peacefully Sunday morning, February 16, 2020 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

She was born in Winchendon on October 31, 1951, daughter of the late Maurice J. and June A. (Ackert) Sawyer and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Darlene was a 1969 graduate of Murdock High School.

Darlene worked for over 25 years in the Winchendon public school system as a teacher’s assistant until her retirement. She greatly enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel and shopping. In her earlier years, she owned and rode her own motorcycle. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren.

Her husband of 42 years, Robert C. Carter, died in 2012. She leaves a daughter, Brenda L. Wilder and her husband James of Winchendon; five grandchildren, Krista Pennell, Jacob Carter, Brielle Heath, James Robert Wilder and Brynn Wilder; two brothers, Wayne A. Sawyer and his wife Pattie of Winchendon, Chris A. Sawyer and his wife Linda of Winchendon; a sister, Wendy J. Gould of Athol; a daughter in law Vanessa L. Pennell of Winchendon and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert S. “Rob” Carter and a brother, Ronald J. Sawyer.

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.

A funeral service will follow at 7 P.M. Friday in the funeral home.

Eugene Clayton May

EUGENE CLAYTON MAY
August 20, 1932 ~ February 12, 2020 (Age 87)

WINCHENDON – Eugene Clayton May, 87, of 3 Center Lane, died peacefully at home Wednesday evening, February 12, 2020 with his family at his side.

He was born in Keene, NH on August 20, 1932, son of the late Harold M. and Dora B (Quinton) May and grew up in Athol. Gene was a 1950 graduate of Athol High School and was a member of its undefeated football team in 1949. He was named to North Worcester and Western Mass. All Star teams and was inducted to the Athol High School Hall of Fame later in life. Gene lived in Athol of many years lived in Ashburnham for ten years and had lived in Winchendon for the last ten years.

Gene proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. During his business career, her worked for Union Butterfield as product manager and manager of manufacturing and then worked for 12 years at Niagra Cutter as sales director until his retirement in 1999. He was member of the Athol High School Boosters and was a member of the American Cribbage Congress, and was tournament champion in 1996 in Greenfield, MA. He had been a director and coach of the Athol YMCA little league team for 9 years.

An outdoorsman, Gene loved deer hunting, fishing, hiking, gardening and yard work. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he also enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiquing. He loved his late dog Cody.

He leaves his wife of 37 years, Jean P. (Day) May; his children, Michael May and his wife Jan of Feeding Hills, MA, Cynthia Savoy and her husband Steven of Royalston, Kathleen May of Spencer, Susan Robichaud and her husband Brent of Athol; a stepdaughter Deborah Kaeppel of Greenfield; grandchildren, Chris, Sarah, Scott, Kate and Kelsey; a step granddaughter Allison Kaeppel and her partner Scott Bartlett; and great granddaughters, Aviana, Eliza and Alexys. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (White) May, who died in 1981.

Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.

Jean M. Olsen

JEAN M. OLSEN
August 2, 1927 ~ February 13, 2020 (Age 92)

WINCHENDON – Jean M. (Reinhardt) Olsen, 92, of Rindge, NH and formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday morning, February 13, 2020 in Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born in Bergenfield, NJ on August 2, 1927, daughter of C. Henry and Ethel (Lockhead) Reinhardt and was a graduate of Weehawken High School in Weehawken, NJ. Jean had lived in Winchendon from 1990 until moving to Rindge in 2018.

Jean had worked many years ago as a customer service representative for Liberty Mutual. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cross stitching and gardening. In recent years, she enjoyed reading books and watching movie classics. She was a member of Winchendon Historical Society and Friends of Beals Memorial Library.

Her husband Richard Olsen, died in 2014. She leaves two children, Lisa J. Olsen-Billet and her husband Matthew of Ashburnham and Eric R. Olsen of Rindge and a grandson, David L. Olsen-Billet. She was predeceased by a sister, Ethelgrace Johnson.

Private funeral services will be held in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
