GFA recently launched a program called BOLT which allows the Credit Union to offer better, more relevant benefits to its members while encouraging local shopping and promoting small businesses.

Members with a BOLT checking account at GFA now have value-added, money saving benefits as a part of their checking account. Practical perks such as roadside assistance, cell phone protection, fuel discounts, and health savings discounts are woven into the majority of the checking account lineup, alleviating the need for members to pay individually for these items.

The opportunity for a local small business to offer a discount is an easy and very low cost way to encourage more business from the thousands of loyal and local members that have a relationship with GFA Federal Credit Union. Joining the discount network presents no upfront cost to the local business other than the cost of the discount it offers. Members can easily find the discounts at participating local businesses through the BOLT mobile application, that GFA created as part of this project.

Each checking account type is tied to various levels of benefits, since different families have various needs. One of the most immediate savings is tied to the use of the BOLT by GFA app. Members of the credit union download the app, available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and immediately are plugged into a national savings network. Substantial is an accurate word to reflect the depth of savings. The savings network has more than 400,000 local and online merchants all across the country, layer that into the 24/7 roadside assistance, cell phone protection, identity theft restoration, fuel rewards and pharmacy/health savings benefits and it’s easy to see the effect.

“In my family of four, we have four cars and four cell phones. I was able to cancel our cell phone insurance and AAA, saving our family at least $200 per month.
