"Honestly, it's the perfect partnership for where we are right now, teaching and engaging through various technologies. And it's not like students aren't doing video and sound editing on their own, look at TikTok," said Recruitment & Communication Coordinator Lindsay Sauvageau.

This week, Fitchburg Access Television and Sizer School have officially announced their partnership to bring an audio visual club to Sizer School in Fitchburg.

"FATV is going to help our students understand their technology better, and find new ways of using it. Imagine what kind of creativity we will be able to get from students when they are empowered, not overwhelmed, by all of the technology around them?" said Sauvageau.

The after school club, being called "Sound & Vision" - AV with FATV, is set to start on Thursday, Jan. 21 for all interested Sizer students. The club will be one of many virtual club offerings Sizer has been able to offer students despite teaching remotely.

The club will be led by FATV's Education Director Jarrod Roberts with Sauvageau as the School Advisor.

"I can't tell you how exciting it is to be able to work with Jarrod, Nate [Glenny, Executive Director] and everyone at FATV. This is one of those great community relationships that directly and positively impacts our students!" said Sauvageau.

Roberts adds that working with schools like Sizer, fits into the public access theory of equal access.

"Public Access is built on the simple idea that everyone should get a chance to take to the airwaves and our job at FATV is to meet everyone where they are and give them skills to make what they want," Roberts. "That's why I'm incredibly excited to partner with Sizer School and to be able to create an AV Club that gives students with any level of skill or interest the chance to jump in and develop."

"I started my interest in video with an AV Club in middle school and look forward to the opportunity to get budding video producers excited and ready!"

"Sound & Vision" will meet weekly for the foreseeable future at Sizer School. Topics and activities that take place during club time, will be student and project directed.

According to FATV Executive Director Nate Glenny, "We are thrilled for this blossoming relationship with Sizer School and its potential benefits for the community. Mr Roberts is part of an outstanding team we have at FATV, and through his industry knowledge and experience with co-teaching a Fitchburg State University college credit course, another partnership we have in the city, will no doubt be beneficial to the students who participate in the 'Sound and Vision' club."
