JAFFREY, New Hampshire (October 17, 2022). The Park Theatre announced today that Garrison Keillor has been booked to perform on April 29 next year. Tickets for this special live event will go on sale on Thanksgiving Day.

Garrison Keillor Tonight is an evening of stand-up, storytelling, audience song, and poetry. One man, one microphone. There are sung sonnets, limericks, and musical jokes, and the thread that runs through it is the beauty of growing old. Despite the inconvenience, old age brings the contentment of less is more. There is the News from Lake Wobegon, a town booming with new entrepreneurs, makers of artisanal firewood and gourmet meatloaf, breeders of composting worms, and dogs trained to do childcare. But some things endure, such as the formation of the Living Flag on Main Street, citizens in tight formation wearing red, white, or blue caps, and Mr. Keillor among them, standing close to old neighbors, Myrtle Krebsbach ("Truckstop") and Julie Christensen ("Bruno, The Fishing Dog") and Clint Bunsen. And an a-cappella sing-along with the audience singing from memory an odd medley of patriotic songs, pop standards, hymns, and ending with the national anthem.

Garrison Keillor conceived, produced, and performed "A Prairie Home Companion" for forty years, wrote fiction and comedy, and invented a town called Lake Wobegon (where all the children are above average). He's busy in retirement, having written a memoir and a book of limericks, and is working on a musical and a Lake Wobegon screenplay. He continues to do "The Writers Almanac," sent out daily to Internet subscribers (free).

Grove Street Fiduciary of Peterborough will sponsor the Park Theatre's Garrison Keillor Tonight event exclusively. Grove Street Fiduciary has supported The Park Theatre significantly since 2015. "Sponsoring Garrison Keillor to come to The Park Theatre is a triple-win for us! We get his iconic and wholesome entertainment live at a great new theatre for our friends and neighbors to enjoy. We cannot wait," said Carl Johnson, Owner, and Chief Investment Strategist of Grove Street Fiduciary, LLC.

Tickets for Garrison Keillor Tonight will be $60 (orchestra), $50 (lower mezzanine), and $40 (upper mezzanine). They can be purchased in advance starting November 24, 2022, by visiting theparktheatre.org or calling the box office (603) 532-8888. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

JAFFREY, New Hampshire (October 18, 2022) They want to hold your hand...again. New England's #1 Beatles tribute band (Boston Globe), Studio Two, returns to Jaffrey's Park Theatre this Friday, October 21 at 8 p.m.

Unlike other Beatle Tribute acts that try to deliver the entire Beatles catalog in a single two-hour show, Studio Two concentrates only on the most exciting and fun time in The Beatles' career: the club and touring years (1962-1966).

These are the years when people saw them play. The period when The Beatles crafted their sound and their stage performance--and the years when they took the world by storm and changed everything.

Studio Two has consistently received enthusiastic reviews (from critics and audiences) for its tribute performances of the Beatles.

Tickets for the concert are $20-$30. They can be purchased at theparktheatre.org or by calling the theatre's box office (603) 532-8888. On the concert evening, the theatre's Lounge bar opens at 5:30pm and Tom Hsu will be performing (free admission).

The theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey at 19 Main Street, just 90 minutes from Boston.

Holiday Kindness for Our Prison Neighbors

It's not too early to think about helping out for the holidays.

Concord Prison Outreach (CPO), a local non-profit, offers high-quality, transformative programs that focus on education, personal growth, and increased opportunity for incarcerated people and their families. CPO's work began over 50 years ago, when a group of Concord women made curtains for the prison infirmary and initiated holiday programming at MCI-Concord. Today, CPO offers educational, vocational, socio-emotional, and parenting programs in jail and prison locations throughout Massachusetts.

Ensuring that incarcerated people feel remembered during the holidays has been a mainstay objective for CPO. For close to 40 years, CPO has assembled Holiday Gift Bags for men in the two Concord prisons with enormous support from CPO volunteers.

For the 2022 holiday season, the Massachusetts Department of Correction is working with CPO and Bethany House Ministries, based in Millis, to create over 5,000 gift bags for every man and woman incarcerated in Massachusetts. This year CPO will expand its Holiday Gift Bag program to cover MCI-Concord, Northeastern Correctional Center, MCI-Shirley, Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, Gardner NCCI, and MCI-Framingham. It's a daunting task, but one that is possible due to the approximately 150 volunteers who will assemble the 3,200 CPO bags and the supporters who donate their financial gifts to CPO.

For many of the men, this is the only holiday gift they receive. Each gift contains toiletries, writing materials, a calendar, and a greeting card. One man wrote, "I've been incarcerated since I was 18. I'm 26 now so I haven't gotten an actual gift from someone since I was 17. What you all are doing is very thoughtful and it goes a long way so Thank You!"

Being separated from loved ones is made even more difficult by the arrival of the holidays. Join us in this opportunity to show kindness to incarcerated men and women during this holiday season.
