Joseph W. Ebbs

JOSEPH W. EBBS
August 1, 1962 ~ April 24, 2021 (Age 58)

TOWNSEND - Joseph W. Ebbs, Jr., 58, of Townsend, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton.

Joe was born in Fort Belvoir, VA on August 1, 1962 a son of the late Joseph W. Ebbs. He was a 1981 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend and earned his Associates Degree from Mt. Wachusett Community College in Gardner.

Joe Proudly worked as an engineering technician at American Superconductor in Ayer. He got up enthusiastically every day to meet the challenges of the day.

A simple, kind-hearted man who got his inspiration from Mother Nature, he could often be found on any local rail trail on his bike or hiking trail. Always staying active, he loved gardening and always had zucchini to spare for anyone he could pass them off to.

He had a love for sci-fi books, movies, and TV shows, which he enjoyed imparting on his son Owen, who is also a fan.

He leaves his son, Owen Ebbs of Amherst who was the center of his universe, and loved beyond measure; his sweetheart, Tricia Doyle of Lowell, whom he loved with all his heart and showed her in countless ways each day; his mother, Elsie (Hill) Ebbs of Townsend; a brother, John Ebbs of Nashua, NH; two sisters, Sharon Cunha of Pepperell and Joan Lemere of Winchendon; his best friend, Clarence Roy of Townsend and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Hillside Cemetery on Highland St. in Townsend.

Richard B. Leopold

RICHARD B. (DICK) LEOPOLD
April 4, 1948 ~ April 1, 2021 (Age 72)

Scottsdale AZ - Richard B. (Dick) Leopold was called to the Lord at age 72 on April 1, 2021 at his home in Scottsdale Arizona.

Born in Winchendon, Massachusetts on April 4, 1948, he moved to Phoenix from Philadelphia in 1972.

His willingness to pursue new adventures led him to start an Inline Roller Hockey League in the Phoenix area. As a dedicated entrepreneur, Dick developed multiple successful businesses and was active in the Catholic Church and many other spiritual endeavors.

Dick is survived by his wife of 33 years Janet Leopold, his children, Christian Leopold (Kelly) and Jennifer Cruz (Dave), five grandchildren, his brother Larry Leopold, Sisters Marcie Beggs and Jeanne Marie Mudd.

With a playful spirit and a compassionate soul, Dick's presence was enjoyed and respected by all who knew him. He was an amazing husband, father and brother. He is already greatly missed.

Private services will be held at the Franciscan Renewal Center 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, AZ 85253 on May 14, 2021 at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix.

Merton R. Wood

MERTON R. WOOD
February 25, 1931 ~ April 27, 2021 (Age 90)

WINCHENDON - Merton R. Wood, 90, of 7 Hale Street, died peacefully at his residence Tuesday morning, April 27, 2021 with his family at his side.

He was born in Lunenburg, VT on February 25, 1931, son of the late John M. and Sarah E. (Lucas) Wood and moved to this area at the age of 16. Mert entered the United States Air Force where he earned his GED and proudly served his country from 1949 to 1952.

Merton worked as a tool and die maker/machinist for many years at C.R. Bard in Fitzwilliam, NH until his retirement. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed horses, camping and blueberry picking. For many years, he and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. An animal lover, he was a member of Cheshire County 4H for many years, Eugene M. Connor Post 393 American Legion and was a former member of Winchendon Rod and Gun Club.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, J. Faye (Parks) Wood; three daughters, Carla Wood and her significant other John Hockman of Winchendon, Rhisa Abbascia and her husband Peter of Charlton and Shelby Moore and her husband Chuck of Sullivan, NH; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
