Leo J. Weeks

LEO J. WEEKS
December 27, 1929 ~ June 7, 2021 (Age 91)

Lynn/Peabody - Leo J. Weeks passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, June 7, 2021, at the age of 91 at Brooksby Village in Peabody after a slow decline in health following a fall in the summer of 2019. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Dorothy, with whom he shared more than 69 years of marriage.

Leo was born in Lynn on December 27, 1929, to Alice Lynch who raised him along with his Uncle Lee. Leo worked his whole career in retail, starting at McClellan's 5 & 10 on Union Street in Lynn back in the mid-1940s. He met Dot there and they were married in September of 1951. Leo was a company man and moved wherever they needed him to go, at one point moving to Winchendon for a few years in the mid- to late 50s to manage a store there. He came back to Lynn and took a job managing the Woolworth's Department store at the New England Shopping Center, now the Square One Mall. In the late 60s, he took his final position as manager at New England Stores 5 & 10 in Market Square in West Lynn where he worked until retiring in 1994. Over those 25 years, he made so many friends and acquaintances that, for the rest of his life, people would come up to him to say they remembered him and how much they loved his store.

Leo and Dot loved traveling with their lifelong friends, along with Dot's sisters and husbands. Cruising was a real favorite but their lives really began to change when the grandkids were born. Nicole, Zach, Cameron, and Rebecca made them so happy. Leo was a perfect example of what a Grampy should be. As he did his whole life, he would do anything for anyone, always looking to help out anyone in need. Upon moving to Brooksby in 2006, Leo became the president of the men's fraternity, which made him quite popular on the Brooksby campus. Everyone knew Leo and he knew them all by name, which made him very happy. For quite a few years, Leo enjoyed volunteering along with Dot at Union Hospital once he retired and was a yearly fixture on Santa's Island on Broadway for the Item Santa. He always enjoyed working in his woodworking shop over the years making things for family and friends.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his daughter Alice and her husband Ray Fisher of Sanford, Maine; his son Kenny Weeks and his wife Cindy of Lynnfield and their children Nicole Weeks of Atlanta, Georgia and Cameron Weeks of Somerville; his son Kevin Weeks, and his children Zach Weeks of Salem and Rebecca Weeks of Orono, Maine, along with Kevin's partner Nancy Gambale.

Service Information: Funeral will be held on Monday at 10 am, at Solimine Funeral Home, followed by services at St Pius V Church 215 Maple St, Lynn at 11am.
