HOLDEN - Barry L. Boutelle Sr., 85, of Holden, died peacefully at his home Wednesday evening January 12, 2022 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with his loving family at his side.

Barry was born in Winchendon on April 19, 1936, son of the late Albert L. and Dorothy E. (Barry) Boutelle Jr where he graduated from Murdock High School. There, he was a member of the varsity baseball team as a right fielder and took great pride in being inducted into the Murdock High Athletic Hall of Fame. Following high school, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army, rising to the rank of Special 3rd Class Corporal. After completing his training at Fort Bragg, he traveled to South Korea to finish his enlistment.

Upon returning to Winchendon, he married the love of his life, Marion McAllister, in 1958. Shortly after the couple moved to Rutland before settling in Holden, MA for over 57 years. Barry worked at Associated Grocer's before becoming a machinist at Reed Rolled Thread Die Co of Holden for over 30 years. His free time was spent watching his kids play sports and coaching his sons and grandson throughout Holden Little League. He shared his love for the game and his unfaltering support of youth sports with dozens of players over the years. His love for watching and cheering on youth sports continued with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barry had many interests throughout his life. He was a member of a barbershop quartet for many years and sang with the Worcester Men of Song for over 2 decades. He was an avid Red Sox fan who was so happy to see them break the curse by winning the World Series 4 times in the 2000's. He loved watching the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots and any golf tournament he could find. He was an avid golfer who golfed many days each week with family and friends and loved the challenge of a new course. Barry proudly belonged to Templewood Golf Course after belonging to the Winchendon Country Club where he was one of the lucky ones to get a hole in one on the 18th hole in 2005. He made and regripped golf clubs for many fellow golfers over the years. He also was a talented carpenter who would make anything for anyone and loved taking on "projects" for his children and grandchildren to fill his time.
