Wednesday 9/28: Chicken breast patty with Florentine sauce, wild rice pilaf, Capri vegetable blend, wheat bread, applesauce.
Thursday 9/29: Chicken meatballs with Swedish sauce, egg noodles, spinach, marbled rye bread, oatmeal cream cooklie or Oreos.
Friday 9/30: Classic meatloaf with gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, yogurt.

The Winchendon Senior Center vans are available to Winchendon residents 55 years old and older, for local transportation to shopping, social events, medical appointments, and similar activities, with priority given to medical appointments. The van is available for longer distance medical runs to Worcester and surrounding towns. Please call the Senior Center at least 24 hours in advance to reserve the van.

The Senior Center is open Monday – Thursday, 8:30am to 2:30pm, and Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

HEAL Winchendon Offering Financial Coaching Workshops

HEAL Winchendon, in conjunction with the Winchendon CAC, is offering a free financial coaching program to any residents who are interested. The program runs for eight weeks with a flexible schedule and is available in both English and Spanish. Coaching will be scheduled at the Winchendon CAC, 273 Central St. To enroll, fill out the form at HEAL Financial Coaching Sign-Up (Google form) or call 978-621-4524.

Free "Rainbow Dinners" for LGBTQI Seniors in Ashburnham

Ashburnham, MA - Ashburnham Community Church will begin to host free "Rainbow Dinners". The dinners will invite LGBTQI Seniors (50+), their friends and families. The first dinner will be held Friday, September 9, 2022. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. "Rainbow Dinners" will continue through the end of the year on the second Friday of each month. Come One! Come All! Celebrate Ashburnham Street Fair Sept. 24

The first annual Celebrate Ashburnham Street Fair will be held on Saturday, September 24 (rain date September 25) from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Main Street.

Main Street will be closed from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for a day of celebration of Ashburnham businesses, artists, and town groups. There will be live demonstrations, all day live musical entertainment including two bands a DJ, Emcee, and local entertainers, food and drink, touch-a-truck, the farmer's market, interactive activities for kids and adults and much more!

CLERK/SECRETARY FOR TREASURER/COLLECTOR'S OFFICE

The Town is seeking skilled administrative clerical support work in assisting the Treasurer/Collector and the Assistant Treasurer/Collector.
The position provides clerical and responsible bookkeeping duties under supervision, collecting most town revenues and apply interest, and/or other late payment charges as appropriate i.e., real and personal property taxes, water and sewer payments, motor vehicle taxes, and receipts from other departments, etc. The work involves attention to details to maintain accurate records and answering customer inquiries. Clerical and bookkeeping work is performed in a moderately noisy office with regular interruptions during the day from the general public or staff to deal with citizens' or staff issues and problems.
Requires the operation of office computers, printer, calculator, telephone, copier/scanner, and all other standard office equipment.
Makes constant and periodic contact with other municipal department staff, attorneys, banks, mortgage companies, and the general public; communication is frequently in person, by telephone, mail, in writing, and occasionally email.
Education, Training and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or GED with two years' bookkeeping or office work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. All employment offers are conditional upon passing a reference and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check.
This is a full-time, 37 hour per week position, Monday through Thursday. This position is in the AFSCME Union with a pay range of $16.90 – $21.64 per hour depending on experience and seniority.

The Town of Winchendon with a population of 10,364 and a budget of $32.5 million is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Treasurer-Collector. The Assistant Treasurer-Collector is appointed by the Town Manager and is responsible for assisting the Town Treasurer-Collector in all areas of responsibility, including collection, treasury, debt management, benefit administration, bookkeeping, and filing mandated reports with various agencies. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a tactful and effective manner; ability to deal with unpleasant or tense situations involving staff and/or the public, ability to maintain detailed and extensive records and to track deadlines, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal effectively with interruptions.
An Associate's degree in business or finance is required and a Bachelor's degree in business or finance is preferred; two (2) years of experience in benefits and payroll processing, preferably in a municipal setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be bondable. Certification from Massachusetts Treasurer/Collector's Association a plus. Experience using MUNIS financial software is also strongly preferred. Starting pay for this 37 hour/week position ranges from $21.12 to $27.03/Hr. depending on qualifications.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

The Director of Development performs a variety of administrative and technical work. Administers day-to-day and long-range land use and community planning effmis. Implements planning strategies identified in adopted plans. Assists Town boards, commissions, including the Winchendon Redevelopment Authority, as needed and/or directed. Manages and executes projects related to master planning, land use, downtown revitalization, zoning, parking/traffic/transpmiation/economic development, affordable housing, energy, cannabis permitting, and as assigned by the Town Manager. Majority of work is performed under typical conditions. Some outdoor work is required for inspection of various land use developments and construction sites, and involves exposure to all weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, and occasionally to fumes and/or airborne particles. Noise level in the office is usually quiet and in the field usually moderate. Manages staff of three. Serves as direct repmi for Conservation Agent, Planning & Development Coordinator, and Planning Land Use Clerk. Bachelor's degree in land-use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, or a closely related field, with a Master's degree prefened. Three (3) years, or more, of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning. Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year-for-year basis, deemed appropriate by the Town Manager. Stariing pay for this 40 hour/week position ranges from $31.37 to $40.15/Hr. depending on qualifications.
