Patrick Skey

PATRICK J. SKEY
November 2, 1952 ~ 2022 (Age 69)

Patrick J. Skey, born November 2, 1952 in Atlantic City passed away suddenly in Mexico and will be laid to rest in Mays Landing, with a private family ceremony.

Patrick spent his last 20 years living in the foothills just north of Acapulco, Mexico, in a little town called Chilpancingo as a musician and journalist. He was also a cyclist and would take long rides through some of Mexico's most beautiful countryside. He always loved to read and had the most elegant way of explaining some of the most sophisticated books written by authors like Nietzsche and Dostoevsky. He was forever quoting Noam Chomsky and predicted the current migration (Great Revolution, he called it) over 20 years ago. He was very fluent in Spanish and spent his later years studying and writing for locals and creating music.

Pat grew up in Atlantic City and attended St Nicholas Grammar School and was part of the Class of 1971 at Atlantic City High School. He went into the United States Air Force in 1972 and started his college education at Atlantic Community College, where he majored in English and performed in the theater group. He performed as God in Woody Allen's play, God and we believe one of Allen's biggest fans. Pat would go on and study English in colleges all around the country where he lived the life of Jack Kerouac, writing when he could and becoming a true minimalist.

Pat loved sports and played and coached baseball and football in Venice Park and you would find him playing basketball at school yards in Venice Park and Richmond Ave. He was huge NBA fan being a diehard Knicks and Lakers fan. He also ran cross country at Atlantic City High.

Pat was the number two son of predeceased Larry and Pat Skey. He had 5 siblings, Lorretta (George Henry) of Brigantine Mike (Diane Surprenant) of Linwood, Lorraine (Roger Hoag) of Northfield, Dennis (Jo Ann Wescoat) of Brookline NH and Kevin (Gina Galat) of Winchendon MA. He also had over 20 nieces and nephews who will remember him.

In honor of Patrick's memory, the family has asked your willingness to make donations to local homeless shelters, which is, at this time, in dire need of money, food, beds and clothing.
