Stevens Memorial Library in Ashburnham Presents Musician Bob Jordan "It's all about the Songs"

Winchendon's Bob Jordan will present the second of four monthly programs on Feb. 16, 2023.

A program of great songs will identify the songwriters and the singers, and help unfold the History of Country Music from the 1920s through the 1970s, from its' rustic roots, through its commercialization and the eventual development of Country Rock , "OUTLAW" Country, New Country, and Americana. As a result of Ken Burns PBS historical series, a large number of people have been awaked to the joy and stars of Country Music in its many forms.

We will talk about what makes the songs tick — the poetry inside the lyrics; the stories, the rhythm, tempo, and the cadences which support the lyrics; and the role of the singer, the instruments, and the music.

While these sessions will be of particular interest to musicians developing their repertoires, they will also appeal to anyone who is interested in the History of popular music; or in understanding how music works and how it is interpreted and enjoyed, promoting a deeper appreciation of musical performance and the SONGS themselves.

The event is free but reservations are required, so please call 978-827-4115 if you want to attend. For more info contact Bob at 508-873-1767.

The other events in this series include: March 9: Folk Music from Greenwich Village (circa 1962); and April 13: the Poetry of Rock.
