Barbara Louise Safford

BARBARA LOUISE SAFFORD
January 30, 2023 (Age 93)

East Greenbush - Barbara Louise Safford, 93, died Monday, January 30, 2023, at Evergreen Commons after a brief illness.

Born in Millbury, MA, she was the daughter of the late John W. Metcalf and Beatrice Sieswenda Metcalf and wife of the late Ernest Arthur Safford. Barbara spent most of her life in Massachusetts until moving to Averill Park in 1999 where she has resided for the past 24 years. She attended Worcester, MA schools.

Barbara was a dedicated homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was a talented sketch artist and enjoyed knitting and crafts. She loved the beach and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends.

She was a member of Lake Avenue Community Church in Averill Park which has become the West Sand Lake Community Church.

Survivors include her sons, Glenn R (Lisa) Safford, Winchendon, MA and Warren A (Stephanie) Safford, Nassau, NY and her grandchildren, Monica (Charles) Bump, Jennifer (Christopher) Foust, Jenna Safford (Ian Zacharewicz), Dylan Safford, Shawna Duguay, Blake Safford, McKayla Safford, Keegan Safford, and Andrew (Michaela) Safford and her great grandchildren, Lucas and Samantha Hansen, Annabelle Foust, Alaina and Alexander Safford, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David A. Safford and her siblings, Sylvia Blatt, Guy Metcalf, Dora LaParle, and Phillip Metcalf.

Relatives and friends may call at the West Sand Lake Community Church 4363 NY-150 West Sand Lake, NY 12196 on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 11AM - 12NOON followed by a service at 12NOON with Rev. Andy Craig, Pastor, officiating.

Private Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Spencer, MA at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Commons for the care and companionship given to our Mother during her stay at the facility and especially in her final days.

James Birt

JAMES "PAT" BIRT
February 2, 1930 ~ February 1, 2023 (Age 92)

Peterbourgh, NH - James "Pat" Birt of Peterbough NH, formerly of Gardner Ma passed away on February 1, 2023 at home just shy of his 93rd birthday. Pat was born February 22, 1930 to James Birt Sr. And Ethel McAuslin Birt in Gorham NH. He spent much of his childhood in Augusta ME. The family settled in Winchendon MA in 1944 and Pat graduated from Murdock High School in 1948.

In 1950 he married Pauline "Polly" Morin and moved to Gardner. They raised three children and were married for 32 years prior to Pauline's death in 1982.

Pat was also a Korean War veteran. He began working for the A&P Co. in 1951 and was with the grocery chain for over 40 years.

During retirement, Pat enjoyed playing golf, visiting with his children and grandchildren and doing what he did best, making people laugh.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Carleen Archambault and her husband, Mark of Orange MA; his daughter, Sharon Sarcinelli and her husband Bill of Gardner; seven grandchildren: Michele Fitzgerald and her husband John of Los Angeles CA; Marty Birt of Manchester NH; Ross Archambault and his wife Kristen of Orange MA, Lauren Gallagher and her husband Adam of Fitchburg MA; Maria Sarcinelli, Julia Sarcinelli of Ashland MA, and Anna Sarcinelli and her fiancé Nathan Parker of Summerville SC. Pat also leaves 6 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pat is also pre-deceased by his son Michael Birt, his parents, a brother William Birt, and his sisters, Esther Violette, and Natalie St. Pierre.

There are no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Raymond C. Clapp

RAYMOND C. CLAPP
January 17, 1940 ~ February 1, 2023 (Age 83)

Winchendon-Raymond C. Clapp, 83, died peacefully Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Alliance Health Baldwinville Nursing Home after an illness.

He was the husband of the late Lillian A. (Brow) who died in 2012. They shared 54 years of marriage. Raymond leaves his two daughters, Jill R. Macarelli and her husband Stephen of Winchendon and Sherry J. Kiedaisch and her husband Christopher of Leominster. He also leaves five grandchildren: Tyler Macarelli, Brock Macarelli, Nathan Macarelli, Nicholas Macarelli, Nicholas Kiedaisch, and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a son, Keith R. Clapp in 1978; a daughter, Lynn A. Clapp in 1993 along with two brothers, Kenneth Clapp who died in the invasion of Normandy, and Gerald Clapp.

Raymond was born in Winchendon on January 17, 1940, a son of the late Frederick and Pheobe (Mawhinne) Clapp. Raymond graduated from Murdock High School class of 1958. He was the president of his class. As a high school student, he enjoyed many sports and was the quarterback on his football team and a pitcher for the baseball team. He was the first member inducted into the Murdock High School Hall of Fame. He went on to play baseball and pitched during his college years at Dean Junior College.

Raymond was co-owner of Toy Town Furniture Factory Outlet in Winchendon, MA for many years until his retirement. During his retirement, he and his wife always loved to travel. He enjoyed watching sports, but most of all going to his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Throughout his many years as a long-term Winchendon resident, he was one of the youngest members to join the school committee. In addition to serving on the school committee, he also served as a member of the board of selectmen in Winchendon. Later in his years, he was a voluntary member of the Winchendon School board of directors.

Private funeral services and burial will be in the spring at the Calvary Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Raymond's honor to the Murdock High School Boosters Club, 3 Memorial Dr., Winchendon, Ma. 01475 Attn: Boosters Donation in Memory of Raymond Clapp.

Jane Marie Grant

JANE MARIE (ALLEN) GRANT
March 31, 1961 ~ January 24, 2023 (Age 61)

Winchendon - Jane Marie (Allen) Grant, 61, died January 24, 2023, at her home after an illness.

She was the wife of 37 years to Kenneth Grant; two sons, Jason Richard and his wife Nicole of Hooksett, NH, Steven Grant and his partner, Alicia Butterfield of Baldwinville; seven grandchildren, Pacey, Jackson, and Thomas Richard of Hooksett, NH, Nathen Grant of Winchendon, Haley Butterfield, Alivia and Nicholas Grant of Baldwinville; one brother Nicholas Burgess of RI; three sisters-in-law, Sally Francis of Winchendon, Karen Powers of Baldwinville, and Brenda Leary of Athol, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a son, Tommy B. Richard; her twin sister, Janet Silveroli and her brother-in-law, Steve Grant in 2021.

Jane was born in Newport, VT on March 31, 1961, a daughter of the late Albert Allen and Margaret (Langevine) Sparks. She was raised in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg Schools.

She worked as a package handler for Kamenstein for 19 years.

Jane enjoyed fishing above all. She was a big g fan of Yahtzee. She enjoyed music as George Strait was one of her favorites. She liked to dance to her favorite songs.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 1:00-3:00 pm with a time of sharing from 2:30 - 3:00 pm in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.

Burial will be private.

Gloria F. Moylan

GLORIA F. (TENNEY) MOYLAN
August 31, 1934 ~ January 29, 2023 (Age 88)

WINCHENDON - Gloria F. (Tenney) Moylan, 88, of Winchendon, died peacefully January 29,2023 at her residence, with her family at her side.

She was born in Winchendon on August 31, 1934, the daughter of the late Reginald K and Alma (Nelson) Tenney. Gloria lived in Winchendon her entire life.

Gloria worked as furniture worker at various furniture companies, Clapp Furniture, Phoenix Industries, Dionne's Furniture and Ipswich Industries, until her retirement. She enjoyed household chores and flower gardening. A lover of the ocean, she particularly enjoyed time spent in Ocean Park, Maine. She attended Cornerstone Church Assemblies of God. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

Her husband, John F. Moylan, died in 1999. She leaves two children, John F. Moylan II and his wife Sheryl of Woodbury, CT and Kathy Jalbert and her husband Jacques of Winchendon; two sisters, Nancy Lillie and Carol Murphy of Winchendon; five grandchildren, Brianna Santora and husband Joseph, Lindsey Moylan and John F. Moylan III, Todd Jalbert and Jared Jalbert and his wife Brandi; one great grandson Robert Barrett White and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Tenney, Frederick Tenney and Robert Tenney, and two sisters, Elizabeth Duval and Ruth Tenney.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, will be held on March 2, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M.

Funeral services will be held in Cornerstone Church Assemblies of God, 122 Gardner Road, Winchendon on March 3, 2023 at 11:30 A.M.

Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.

Linda M. Dionne

LINDA M. DIONNE
July 16, 1951 ~ February 1, 2023 (Age 71)

Linda M. Dionne, 71, of Keene, NH, passed away on February 1, 2023, at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene following a period of declining health.

Linda was born on July 16, 1951, a daughter to the late Fernando R. and Norma A. (Stanghellini) Dionne.

Linda grew up in Jaffrey and attended Conant High School where she graduated in the class of 1969. She went on to attend Keene State College where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Education. Before her retirement, Linda worked as a Lab Technician at Cheshire Medical Center.

In her free time, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family above everything else. Family was the world to her, and she gave her all to her grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was a caretaker for her mother before her passing and was selfless and loving, especially remembering everyone's birthdays. Most importantly was her love for cooking and hosting weekly Sunday family dinners where everyone would gather at her home. She loved shopping trips with her late sister Becky, she loved reading, knitting, gardening, being outside in the spring and summer months, bird and squirrel watching, as well as going to the beach and being around water. She greatly loved Disney World and taking family trips so she could ride on her favorite ride "It's a Small World." And she especially loved her beloved dog, Sadie.

In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her sister Becky Dionne in 2022.

Linda will be forever remembered by her two brothers, Michael Dionne and his wife Linda of Jaffrey, NH, and Peter Dionne and his wife Sandi of South Carolina, Her seven nieces and nephews; Jeremy Dionne and his wife Kayla their two children James and Max, of Keene, NH, Chris Dionne and his wife Rebecca and their three children Emma, Lauryne, and Avery, of Swanzey, NH, Nick Dionne and wife Stephanie and their son Noah, of Stoddard, NH, Stephanie Lafrennie and her husband Chad and their children, Tommy, Grace, Julie, and Andy, of Winchendon, MA, Rachel Lovett and her husband Rory and their children Norah, Brady, Alice, Henry, of Dublin, NH, Gregg Dionne and his partner Jane and their son August, from Charlottesville, VA, Robert Dionne and his wife Jenna and their children Lincoln and Cecilia of Chittenango, NY, well as many friends and relatives.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 2:00PM-4:00PM at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey NH, 03452.
