Marilyn J. Brown

MARILYN J. (HILLER) BROWN
December 6, 1933 ~ March 26, 2023 (Age 89)

GARDNER - Marilyn J. (Hiller) Brown, 89, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the home of her son, shortly after the arrival of her daughter from Texas and surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 6, 1933, daughter of the late Harvey E. and Bernice (Lane) Hiller. She grew up in Detroit. Following her marriage to her late husband, Marilyn travelled all over Europe and the United States and settled in Troy, Texas, where she lived until about 1995. She then returned to Detroit, living there until moving to Gardner in 2003.

Marilyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Michigan, Barre, MA and Gardner, MA. as a member of the Jessamine Chapter. She was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Marilyn enjoyed dancing, travelling and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Paul W. Brown, Jr., died in 1980. She leaves her children, William L. Brown and his wife Ruthy and Karen Rotge and her husband Sid of Hutto, Texas; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three children, George Brown, Sharon Brown and John E. Brown and a brother, Harvey Hiller.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5 to 6:30 P.M. followed by Eastern Star services and funeral services.

Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Memorial donations may be made to Jessamine Chapter order of the Star or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Brian L. Pervier

BRIAN L. PERVIER
September 19, 1981 ~ March 24, 2023 (Age 41)

Winchendon - Brian L. Pervier, 41, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 24, 2023.

He leaves his daughter, Emily Kiberd-Pervier; his son, Jake Pervier; his fiancée, Jen Kaiser; his father, Jeff Pervier, and his partner, Terri Brady his mother, Michelle (Croteau) Alger, and her husband Ronald; his brother, Bradly Pervier, and his wife Stephanie; one nephew, Dean Pervier, all of Winchendon; his paternal grandmother, Janet Pervier of E. Templeton; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brian was born in Worcester on September 19, 1981. He was a graduate of Murdock High School in 2000. He also graduated from Mount Wachusett Community College with an associate's degree in Health and Nutrition. He started working at the Clark, the Clam Shack, and Market Basket. He became a Corrections Officer in 2005.

Brian enjoyed hiking with his friends, walking, hunting and especially loved to play hockey. He was a member of the Otter River Sportsman's club.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 2nd at 1:00 pm at Otter River Sportsman Club, 250 Lord Road Templeton, MA

Roy O. Gilbert

ROY O. GILBERT
June 21, 1937 ~ March 17, 2023 (Age 85)

Roy O. Gilbert, 85, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, March 17, 2023, in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, after an illness.

Born in Concord, New Hampshire, on June 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Ibrey O. and Olive F. (Milligan) Gilbert. Roy graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1955 and received an Associates Degree in Engineering from New Hampshire Technical Institute. Roy was a United States Air Force Veteran serving in the New Hampshire Air National Guard from 1960 to 1963 and was actively deployed from 1961 to 1962. He also served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard from 1956 to 1960. Roy retired in 2004 as Director of Community Development for the Town of Winchendon. Roy was the Owner of G.B. Chapel Furnishing, LLC of Winchendon for many years until his death. He also owned the Gilbert Furniture Company.

Roy was a congregant of the Unitarian Universalist Society Church of Gardner. He was a member and past District 7910 Governor of Rotary International (2005-2006). Roy held his private pilot license and loved to travel with his late wife Lois. He was proud of his Scottish heritage—the MacNeill clan, and enjoyed attending the Highland Games in New Hampshire. He had a passion for furniture making and was most proud of his custom shaker furniture designs. Roy's greatest joy was his family and friends, treasuring all the special moments they spent together. Roy was a compassionate, loving person that put other's needs first before his.

Roy was predeceased by his wife of 34-years, Lois J. (Nadeau) Gilbert, who died in 2019. He is survived by his four children, Kevin Gilbert (Jamie) of Bothell, WA, Tamara Mugel (Richard) of Hamburg, NY, Megan Piccus (Andrew) of Longmeadow and stepson Kyle Helie (Andrea) of Leominster; former wife Judith C. Gilbert of Arlington, VA; twelve grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Emma, Hayley, Viola, Nathaniel, Stephen, Margaret, Emily, Madeleine, Zoe, and Parker; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc, 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow at in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.

Michael Hawker

MICHAEL HAWKER
July 5, 1943 ~ March 25, 2023 (Age 79)

Michael "Gary" Hawker, of Winchendon, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was 79.

Michael was born in Boston on July 5, 1943, a son of the late James F. and Helen A. (Blewitt) Hawker, and grew up in Holy Cross Cathedral Parish. After high school he served with the United States Army Reserves. A longtime resident of Shirley, he had worked for years for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority until he retired and relocated to Winchendon with his wife. He was the husband of the late Joanne (Harris) Hawker.

He leaves his brother, Rev. James F. Hawker of Weymouth and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering to visit at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), WALTHAM, where his Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon. Norma R. Herk

NORMA R. HERK
May 29, 1939 ~ March 22, 2023 (Age 83)

Fitzwilliam, NH - Norma R. (Menard) Herk, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 22, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of 53 years to the late, Onnie Herk, who passed away on July 20, 2021.

She leaves her daughter, Trudi (Hurst) Ackerman, and her husband Andrew of Northfield; her two beloved grandchildren, Julianna Ackerman and Jared Ackerman, both of Northfield and her niece, Doreen Potter who was like a daughter, along with other nieces and nephews.

She was born in Winchendon on May 29, 1939, the daughter of the late Arthur Joseph and Rose Emerentienne (Baril) Menard. She was a graduate of Murdock High School.

She worked for New Hampshire Ball Bearing, as an Inspector for many years prior to her retirement. Norma enjoyed golfing, walking, shopping, and playing cards with her friends. Norma also loved to travel, especially to Florida. She truly loved cooking, and baking for her family. Her greatest joy came from her two grandchildren.

A service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
