Rowland F. Hunt Jr.

ROWLAND "BUDDY" F. HUNT JR.
March 9, 1975 ~ July 13, 2023 (Age 48)

Rowland "Buddy" F. Hunt Jr., 48, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, July 13, 2023, in his home.

Born in Gardner on March 9, 1975, he was the son of Dianne A. (Richard) Hunt of Gardner and the late Rowland F. Hunt. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1993. Buddy was a Lineman employed by Verizon for many years.

Buddy was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Pitch Leagues at the Napoleon Club of Gardner and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 905 of Gardner and he was a former member of the Polish American Citizens Club of Gardner. Buddy enjoyed playing KENO, card games, and Fantasy Football. He was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams and a movie buff—enjoying the Sci-Fi genre, Tarantino movies, and Game of Thrones. Buddy also played softball for several years in the Gardner leagues and enjoyed playing golf. Most important to Buddy was his family, caring for his Memere when she became sick allowing her to stay home till her passing. He will be remembered by all for his infectious smile, comedic relief, and larger-than-life presence.

Besides his mother, Buddy is survived by his two sisters, Lisa Rhodes and her husband Dan of Gardner, and Heather Ferrari and her former husband Mark Ferrari. Though he never had children of his own he adored his niece and nephew as if they were his own, Ella Rhodes and Mark Ferrari Jr. of Gardner. He also leaves his aunts and uncles, Donald Hunt of Florida, Jane Dufresne of Winchendon, Stephen and Susan Hunt of Winchendon, Wayne Hunt of Gardner and Beth Hunt of Winchendon, Lucy Morrill and her partner Derrel of Vermont and Omer and Phyllis Richard of Gardner and several cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 21, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA, at the convenience of the family.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Alyce Lorraine Brooks

ALYCE LORRAINE BROOKS
October 20, 1935 ~ May 19, 2023 (Age 87)

Alyce Lorraine Brooks (nee Farinoli), 87, formerly of Jaffrey and Fitzwilliam, NH, died peacefully at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH on Friday, May 19, 2023.

She was born in Swanzey, NH, on October 20, 1935, to Altieri A. and Gertrude M. (Seim) Farinoli.

Alyce graduated from Keene High School in 1954, where she played in the band and continued her study of piano. She enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and completed her Basic Training in Texas. She was stationed in Germany, where she served in the Signal Corps (USASC), and was awarded a Good Conduct medal for her service. Following her honorable discharge from the military, Alyce worked and lived in Keene and Fitzwilliam.

On July 10, 1965, Alyce married William Fuller Brooks, Sr., the love of her life, and moved to Jaffrey, NH. They raised their daughter there in KK Village. They were active square dancers with the Sunshine Twirlers and enjoyed traveling to various dancing events in New England. Alyce worked for many years at the Jaffrey Grade School and later in art enrichment for Monadnock Family Services, assisting with their Adult Care program. It was only later in life that she came to realize her gifts in using art to heal and cope with loss.

Alyce was an artist and a lover of nature. She wove rugs on a large 19th-century loom that she sold throughout southwest New Hampshire. She taught piano, painted landscapes, and enjoyed daily visits to Howard Memorial Park to watch the birds. She enjoyed reading English history and collected numerous books on artists, from Impressionists to American illustrators. She enjoyed visiting museums and learning new crafts, such as caning chairs, spinning wool, and drawing with pastels. Her interests also included the early decades of film, and she was an active member of film discussions at the Jaffrey Public Library. When not creating or appreciating art, she was watching the Red Sox.

Alyce was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peterborough, NH, and found comfort in her Christian faith after the unexpected death of her husband in 1984. She was proud to be a female veteran as a member of the Jaffrey VFW Post 5613 and enjoyed participating in Jaffrey's annual Memorial Day parades.

Two brothers, Altieri J. Farinoli and Louis A. Farinoli, predeceased her.

Alyce is survived by her daughter, Darlene L. Brooks Hedstrom (Brooks) and her husband, Mark H. Brooks Hedstrom (Hedstrom) and their son, her beloved grandson, Silas William Brooks Hedstrom, of Attleboro Falls, MA. She is also survived by her nephew, Altieri J. Farinoli, and niece, Teresa Farinoli Pierson, and their children. She will be missed by her friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Alyce's life will take place July 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 280 Old Dublin Road, Peterborough, NH. Alyce will be laid to rest in the Village Cemetery in Fitzwilliam, NH.

Thomas J. Conrad

THOMAS J. CONRAD
March 20, 1940 ~ July 17, 2023 (Age 83)

Winchendon-Thomas J. Conrad, died Monday, July 17, 2023, at his home after a brief illness. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was a loving father and grandfather. He leaves one daughter, Kelly Conrad of Manchester, NH; two granddaughters, Allison and Elizabeth. He was preceded by one brother, Edmund Conrad of Phillipston; two sisters, Kathleen Cameron of Fitchburg, and June Catalini of Rockport.

Tom was born in Fitchburg on March 20, 1940, a son of the late Edmund and Theresa (Bourgault) Conrad. He was a 1957 graduate of Fitchburg High School. He was a US Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War as an ABF3. Tom was proud of his military service, becoming a lifetime member of the VFW. He worked as a Sr. Research Technician for the Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. for 36 years. After retiring at age 59, Tom enjoyed living his life on Lake Monomonac. Tom was very social and enjoyed his neighbors, hosting Monday morning coffee sessions with his friends. He was an avid gardener and computer enthusiast.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 26, 2023 in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA 01475, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winchendon Fire Department, 405 Central St, Winchendon, MA 01475, an organization that Tom supported.
