RICHARD ISAKSON
October 2, 1935 ~ July 1, 2023 (Age 87)

Richard Isakson, 87, of Rindge, NH, passed away peacefully at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.

"Dick" as he was often called, was born on October 2, 1935, in Jaffrey, NH, the son of John and Gertrude Isakson. He attended Jaffrey public schools and graduated from Conant High School in the class of 1953. After graduation, Dick served his country honorably in the US Air Force and retired after more than 20 years as a Master Sergeant. While enlisted in the Air Force, he married Kathleen Croteau, his high school sweetheart of Marlborough, NH. They were married in Farmington, Utah, on May 21, 1955. Together they started their family with the birth of their children John and Rebecca. Through the years, the family lived in various places including Utah, Texas, Missouri, Wyoming, and Nevada, but always considered New Hampshire their home.

Dick worked for Cheshire County and at the Cathedral of the Pines as Director of facilities for many years before retiring in 1994. Dick was a very involved member of the community, playing a role within many associations, such as the Rindge Veteran's Association, the American Legion Post #11, Trustee of the Ingalls Memorial Library, the Rindge Planning Board, and he also served on the Meetinghouse Oversite Committee. Dick was awarded Rindge Citizen of the year in 2007.

Outside of his time spent serving his community, he enjoyed being active in the Pearly Pond Association and served as president for many years. He could often be found fishing, woodworking, and knitting.

Richard was predeceased by both of his parents, John and Gertrude Isakson, as well as his stepfather John Korpi.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Isakson of Rindge, his daughter Rebecca Isakson of Reno, NV, his son John Isakson of Jacksonville, FL, three grandchildren, two stepsisters, as well as many cousins and friends.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the Ingalls Memorial Library, 203 Main Street, Rindge, NH 03461, or to the Rindge Veterans Association, PO Box 723, Rindge, NH 03461.
