The Winchendon Senior Center vans are available to Winchendon residents 60 years old and older, for local transportation to shopping, social events, medical appointments, and similar activities, with priority given to medical appointments. The van is available for longer distance medical runs to Worcester and surrounding towns. Please call the Senior Center at least 24 hours in advance to reserve the van.

The Senior Center is open Monday – Thursday, 8:30am to 2:30pm, and Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Stop in for a coffee and goodies continental breakfast Monday – Friday from 9:00am to 10:30am.

Appreciative Living Learning Circles Program at the Winchendon CAC

Do you want to feel happier and more alive in your life and relationships? If you're going through some major changes or challenges and need some guidance getting through them, then join certified life coach, Paul Hackett, at the Winchendon CAC for an Appreciative Living Learning Circle experience.

On Wednesday, June 29, at 6:00 p.m., take part in a four-week program designed to help you overcome extreme challenges, navigate major life transitions, rebuild relationships, and more. The first week focuses on building an appreciative mindset. Participants will learn what an appreciative mindset is, why it matters, and how to develop it.

The second week, Wednesday, July 6, will focus on getting unstuck. Discover how to move past limiting thoughts and fears holding you back in order to see new possibilities.

The third week, Wednesday, July 13, centers on creating your ideal day. Learn how to simplify and get clear about what you want, and then how to help make it happen.

The final week of the program, Wednesday, July 20, is all about transforming your relationships. Learn a powerful process to positively shift your relationship experience.

This event is free and open to anyone 18 and older. Supplies will be provided and participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the fourth week. Registration is required.

Dive into the Beals Memorial Library's Summer Reading Club

The Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon invites the whole community to set sail for some good books this summer by joining their Summer Reading Club! This year's theme is "Oceans of Possibilities." The library will have fun programs, activities, stories, and more for the whole family to enjoy. Register now to participate!

From June 27 to August 6, the Beals will be celebrating and promoting literacy with their Summer Reading Club, open to participants of all ages. Children who sign up can read and record up to 9 hours this summer and for every 90 minutes of reading, they'll get to spin the wheel to win some fabulous prizes! Teens and adults can join in on the fun, too! Read, record, and rate up to 10 books this summer. For every book you log, get one entry for a chance to win a prize of your choice from a selection of amazing prizes! Teen and adult participants who read 10 books will receive a special browsing bag to fill with a bag of books from the library's book sale.

Splash into the library's summer programs by joining them on Wednesday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. on the library lawn for the Beals Beach Bash! There will be music, crafts, lawn games, and more! Be sure to wear a swimsuit and bring a beach towel for some water fun.

July 2022 Events at Otter River State Forest and Lake Dennison Recreational Area

Public programs at Otter River State Forest and Lake Dennison Recreational Area begin on 5/20/22 and run through Labor Day. All programs are free and open to the public, a parking fee may apply. Bring water, wear sunscreen/bug spray, and dress for the outdoors. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended for hiking programs. An adult must accompany all children. Inclement weather cancels hiking programs. Walk along the shore of Lake Dennison with the Park Interpreter. We'll explore the changes to the landscape while we discover old cellar holes and talk about the history of the area. Meet at the Lake Dennison beach by the lifeguard towers. Appropriate for ages 8 and above. About one mile over moderate terrain.

MOBILE NATURE CENTER
Thursdays 1 pm to 2:30 pm
We bring the nature center to you! Check out pelts, skulls, and other items related to the animals that live in the park. Stay for five minutes or an hour! Bring your questions.
Meet by the Lake Dennison lifeguard towers. Appropriate for all ages.

Animals must use all their senses every day to find food and survive. Come and find out about some of the super senses of the animals that live in the area and use your own senses to explore the world around you. Meet at the Otter River Nature Center. Appropriate for ages 6 and above. Easy terrain, milage will vary week to week.

Annual Festival & Chicken Barbeque 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Benefiting St. Martin's Church in Otter River. The event will feature a major prize raffle, Chinese auctions, handcraft booth, baked goods, theme baskets, games of chance and skill for all ages, free craft activities for children, and music throughout the day. A chicken barbecue dinner will be served from noon to 1 pm, and hot dogs and other refreshments will be available all day. To view recordings of past meetings, contact Taylor Tower at 978-297-0085, or email her at ttower@townofwinchendon.com If you wish to keep a copy of the recording, there is a $5 fee per recorded file.

Event listings in Clyde's Corner are free of charge for non-profit, community and town organizations and groups, and for charitable or benefit events.

Short text articles about forthcoming local events are free of charge.

Display ads are published for a fee only

Rates for Display Ads

Display ads must run for a minimum of one week. Payment is required at the time ads are submitted. Graphics should be high resolution and ads must be readable on a cell phone screen. Do not submit an all-graphic ad containing a lot of small print; it will be unreadable on smaller screens. Email the Editor for exact details on the best format for ads.

Business card size:
$25 per week, $100 per month

Double business card size (square):
$40 per week, $150 per month

Full-width banner:
$40 per week, $150 per month

Full width banner at top of front page:
$100 per week, $400 per month

Display ads are posted in full color and will include active links to your website, Facebook page, or email unless you opt out.

Classified ads are $10 per week for up to 100 words, $0.05 per additional word.

TOWN OF WINCHENDON
PARAMEDIC / FIREFIGHTER
FULL-TIME and PART TIME POSITIONS
The Fire Chief is seeking applications to fill one (1) Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic position along with numerous part time firefighter/paramedic positions. Qualified candidates should mail or hand deliver a letter of intent along with a resume to the Fire Chief no later than Wednesday, June 29th at noon. These positions will remain open until filled. Complete job descriptions are available at the fire station which is at 405 Central Street, Winchendon.

Job Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications outlined in the job description, the candidates must;
Have a minimum; high school diploma or equivalent; two years of firefighting experience or Firefighter I/II training preferred; Massachusetts EMT-P certification or in progress with completion within twelve months; current CPR certification; active Massachusetts Class D driver’s license or higher.
Candidates must possess very good communication skills (both oral and written), computer knowledge, present a positive public image, have a good mechanical aptitude, relate well to children and senior citizens, work well with other employees while following department rules and guidelines.

Full-time pay and benefits will be as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the Town of Winchendon and the International Association of Firefighters Local 4542. Part-time Firefighter/Paramedics will start at the current rate of $25.50 per hour.

Information Technology Department Hiring Two IT Interns

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology, (IT)
JOB CLASSIFICATION: IT Interns (2) – Temporary, Non-benefited position
HOURS: 19 Hours per week -flexible schedule
COMPENSATION: $15.00 hr.
The Town of Winchendon seeks to hire two (2) IT interns. The persons hired will assist the Winchendon IT, Planning and Building department personnel with scanning documents to create digital files. Tasks include preparing documents for scanning, the actual scanning of the documents, checking the quality of the scanned documents and compiling the electronic files on server. Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age and possess a high proficiency with all necessary computer skills. The temporary position(s) work under the supervision of the IT Director and run through June 30, 2022.
