Take the TOY TOWN TROLLEY On Saturdays Beginning January 11! FREE!

Beginning on Saturday, January 11, the Toy Town Trolley will be making three circuits around Winchendon and up to the Rindge shopping areas every Saturday. Rides are FREE to all residents! This service is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and sponsored by the Town of Winchendon, the Winchendon CAC, the Winchendon Council on Aging and the Winchendon CCAP Task Force.

NOTE: ORIGINAL SCHEDULE HAS CHANGED. Each circuit will start at Hyde Park and stop at the end of Pearl Drive, the Town Hall bus shelter, Dollar Tree Plaza, the YMCA/GFA bus shelter, CVS, the fire station bus shelter, Ipswich Drive, the end of Ready Drive, the end of Goodrich Drive and the Winchendon Community Park. From there the trolley will head up 202 (so you don't have to!) and stop to let off shoppers at Tractor Supply, Market Basket/Marshalls, Walmart and Hannaford. It then returns to Not Just Produced and Sippin' Serendipity and immediately starts its next circuit with Hyde Park. Shoppers who were let off on the first through fourth circuits can reboard the trolley for home when it returns.

The first circuit starts at Hyde Park at 9:15 a.m. and the last circuit leaves Hannaford at 2:51 p.m.

For a grid of the complete updated schedule with times, see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1E0NiGrFeB_wtjV61TCosVYm0p5g4dKQ6vExvOrI9288/htmlview. Letter to the Editor

As National Library Week gets underway, it is important for all of us to realize how important libraries are to modern life. They provide us not just with books but also many supplemental services like job hunting help, homework support, free Wi-Fi, programs for adults and children -- all things that conduce to a well informed and responsible citizenry. Libraries are now under threat, as are so many of our institutions in this present fascist-leaning regime.

Please everyone, pay attention and do not let our elected representatives destroy one of our most precious institutions!

Sincerely,
Catherine Behrens

CLAUDETTE PLANTE
September 14, 1938 ~ March 30, 2025 (Age 86)

Claudette Plante, born on September 14th, 1938 in Greenville, New Hampshire, peacefully passed away on March 30th, 2025 after a long illness. She was a long-time resident of Winchendon. Claudette was known for her creative spirit, often expressed through her love of crafting and cake decorating. She found joy in reading books and the Sunday newspaper, along with solving crossword and sudoku puzzles to stay sharp. Her funny and supportive nature made her home a hub of warmth and laughter, where her siblings and their spouses would often gather for card games, and in the summer, for barbecues.

Claudette leaves behind her children, Anne-Marie Plante, Joyce Plante, and Christopher Plante. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Plante, three brothers and one sister, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Services are private at the request of the family. Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon. Kevin J. Mack & Walter C. Taylor, Directors. In memory of Claudette, we encourage those who knew her to leave memories and upload photos to her memorial page.
