Art Classes with GALA

Working with Oils "Metal, Glass, Ceramic, Wood"

Saturdays 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Begins Saturday, November 8
All levels and beginners are welcome!
Ages 16 and above may register.
There is just nothing quite like painting with oil! Oil paint goes on so smooth and allows for the most beautiful blending, but it can also seem intimidating. In this three-part series, you will learn the basics of painting with oils including blending, working in layers, and using the right mediums, all while painting from life. Our still-life arrangement will be made up of a variety of objects with different surfaces - metal, glass, wood, etc. You will learn ways to capture each of these different surfaces with the paint. You will also learn about value and light with casting shadows. And the slow, forgiving nature of oils lends an artist the patience to learn and keep at it. We will also cover clean up and safe painting practices. You will be working on the same still-life for the 3 weeks, so you will have plenty of time to finish.

This 3-week Series Workshop is $115 for two classes that are 2 hours long and one class that is 3 hours long.
Includes All Materials - Coffee & Light Refreshments
There is LIMITED SEATING, so Register Early!
Instructor: Joanne Stowell (an award winning artist)
Saturday, Nov 8, 15, 22

Sharing Secrets Using Watercolor Workshop Series: Realism

Friday, November 7, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
In this class, we'll learn a simple "combining" of watercolor techniques for "realism" style paintings. Easier said than done, but we'll utilize wet in wet passages and finish with dry brush, the use of "toned" papers, seeing and conveying "hard" versus "soft" edges for the punch of realism. $35 includes all materials, though you can bring your own if you would like to.

Instructor: Susan Burdsall

DPW Will be Tidying Up Cemeteries

(September 11, 2025) -- The Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin removing any decorations, objects, or plantings that extend beyond the permitted space around cemetery monuments. Families and loved ones are encouraged to collect any items they wish to keep within the next month.

After this period, the DPW will temporarily place removed items outside the cemetery for an additional month to allow for retrieval. Any items not collected by the end of that time will be respectfully discarded.

This policy is necessary to ensure the safety of cemetery staff and visitors, maintain accessibility, and preserve the dignity of the grounds. We appreciate the community's cooperation in helping to keep the cemetery a safe and respectful place for all.

A copy of the Towns Cemetery Rules and Regulations can be found on the Town website.

    Obituaries

    Brian K Cutler, Sr

    BRIAN K CUTLER, SR
    March 17, 1958 ~ October 20, 2025 (Age 67)

Brian K. Cutler was born on the 17th of March, 1958, in Winchendon, Massachusetts, and passed away on October 20, 2025. A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, Brian spent the majority of his life in Gardner. A dedicated factory worker in the manufacturing sector, Brian was always committed to his work until his retirement. However, his true passion lay in the simple joys of life. He was an ardent lover of the outdoors, always on the lookout for the next camping or fishing trip. A devoted fan of wrestling, Brian also found contentment in crafting and spending time with his granddaughters' bearded dragon, Alastor.

What mattered most to Brian, though, was his family. He is survived by his daughters Bonnie and Kara Cutler, his son Brian Jr, his sisters Belinda Chalke, Pam Vaillancourt, his brothers Ricky Chalke, Albert Vaillancourt, Gregory Vaillancourt, and John Vaillancourt, Donald Cutler, Robert Cutler and his grandchildren Bianca, Jillian, Jonathan, Alastor, and Jaylynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lafayette and Irene Cutler, his biological parents, Robert Vaillancourt, and Judith Chalke, his siblings Scott Vaillancourt, Randy Chalke, Carla Chalke, Tracy Chalke Angel Vaillancourt, and Elizabeth Vaillancourt, and his daughter Brandy Cutler.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon, MA. has been entrusted with his care. We invite all who knew Brian to share memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. His life was filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of a family that he cherished above all else. Please join us in celebrating the life of Brian Cutler.

    Therese M. St. Pierre

    THERESE M. ST. PIERRE
    April 19, 1931 ~ October 25, 2025 (Age 94)

Therese Marie (Gamache) St Pierre, 94, the matriarch of the St. Pierre family, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, after a long illness.

Therese was born on April 19, 1931, in Winchendon Springs, MA, a daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Yvonne (Deschenes) Gamache. She spent the first few years of her life there before moving to Greenville, NH as a child and lived there for the rest of her life. She was a lifelong Communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Greenville.

Therese married Raymond St. Pierre on July 1, 1950, in Greenville. Therese and Raymond were longtime members of the American Legion Post 13 during its heyday and were involved in all Legion activities. She was a member of the Post 13 Legion Auxiliary and Raymond was a member of the legion firing squad. Together they represented New Hampshire travelling to conventions all over the United States. She was well loved for her themed family nights - pie night, Italian night etc. but above all, she was known for her Christmas Eve parties featuring hundreds of grab bags and a dozen homemade chocolate yule logs made with her secret cream recipe. No one who helped her make the cream was ever allowed to know the whole recipe.

Her home was always a full house and was always the place where her children and their friends congregated. Everyone who knew her knew that Saturday night was spaghetti night, and everyone was welcome to stop by for some. She was the ringleader of all shenanigans.

Therese was predeceased by her husband Raymond and her granddaughter Corinne.

Survivors include her "Party Posse" of 4 children, Susan St. Pierre- Comeau and her husband Paul, Anne Smith and her husband James, Albert St. Pierre and his wife Mary, and Jean St. Pierre and his wife Carol, as well as her four grandchildren, Raymond Comeau, Jessica Comeau, Zachary (Lauren) St. Pierre and Jonathan (Lauren) Mahoney and her great granddaughter Tia St. Pierre.

Therese will be remembered in a private service and burial, and she will be prayed for in Masses at Sacred Heart Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Attn: Planned Giving, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
