Joseph N. Cloutier

JOSEPH N. CLOUTIER
July 18, 1937 ~ February 20, 2022 (Age 84)

Joseph N. Cloutier, 84, of Jaffrey, NH, passed away on February 20, 2022 at Monadnock Community Hospital with his daughter by his side.

He was born on July 18, 1937 in Peterborough, NH, and was the son of Camille and Claire (Lacroix) Cloutier. Raised in Greenville, NH, he attended Appleton Academy. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served aboard an aircraft carrier until his honorable discharge in 1958. After his service, he returned home from the military and married the love of his life Christine Vaillancourt. They enjoyed 60 years of devoted marriage until her death in 2018.

Joseph worked for the W.E. Aubuchon Hardware Company, in both the Jaffrey and Peterborough stores, eventually becoming a field supervisor for the company. After leaving the hardware business, Joseph became the manager of Silver Ranch, in Jaffrey. Later, he worked for many years at the John Danais Company in Manchester as the VP of sales and finally retired in 1999.

He was a true lover of golf and enjoyed spending time golfing with friends. For many years, he was part of the Toy Town Senior Golf Association formerly at the Winchendon (MA) Country Club. When Joseph was no longer able to walk the course, he spent time fishing at many of the local ponds. He was also a member of St. Peter's Church in Peterborough.

"Joe" was a jokester. He often was heard to wish people a "Merry Christmas" even in the heat of a July day. He loved to tell a good story and make people laugh. To Joe, his biggest accomplishment in his life was his long and loving marriage to his wife Christine. He was devoted to her, remained by her side through her illness, and missed her terribly after her death.

He leaves behind his daughter Lisa (Christopher) Cutter of Peterborough, NH, and his grandsons Devin (Marissa) Cutter of Long Beach, CA, and Drake Cutter of Salt Lake City, UT.

Together, Joseph and Christine's remains will be scattered by plane over the Isles of Shoals.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675, support.woundedwarriorproject.org, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, www.stjude.org/donate.
