Thomas E. Dube

THOMAS E. DUBE
May 27, 1962 ~ May 25, 2022 (Age 59)

WINCHENDON - Thomas E. Dube, 59, of Winchendon, died peacefully at his residence Wednesday morning, May 25, 2022, with his family at his side.

He was born in Gardner on May 27, 1962, son of the late Leo A. and Sylvia H. (Roy) Dube and was a 1981 graduate of Gardner High School. He and his family had lived in Winchendon for many years.

Tom had worked as a courier for Fed Ex for 26 years. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins and an avid golfer. Tom enjoyed live music and was an 80's Rock and Roll fan and a fan of vintage cars. His greatest enjoyment was spending time and vacationing with his wife and his family.

He leaves his wife of 39 years, Heather E. (Hawke) Dube; two children, Jacob T. Dube of Winchendon and Merissa Dube of Gardner; a granddaughter, Madison Dube of Gardner; his sister, Denise Woodward and husband Scott of Templeton; brothers, David Dube of Gardner, Michael Dube of Clearwater, FL and Christopher Dube and wife Jessica of Winchendon. He also leaves his dog Skye and several nieces and nephews. A brother, John Dube, preceded him in death.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 5 to 7 P.M. with a short service to follow at the end of calling hours.

Frances Piascik

FRANCES (REYNOLDS) PIASCIK
October 16, 1928 ~ May 27, 2022 (Age 93)

WINCHENDON - Frances V. (Reynolds) Piascik, 93, died Friday, May 27, 2022 at Sterling Village Nursing Home in Sterling after an illness.

She was the wife of the late Ramon Piascik who died in 1998. Frances leaves three children, James and his wife Cynthia of Gardner, Virginia and her husband Mark of Fitchburg and Debra and her husband James of Framingham; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Frances was born in Winchendon on October 16, 1928 a daughter of the late Floyd and Marion (Tenney) Reynolds. She was a 1947 graduate of Murdock High School. She worked for many years in the Winchendon Dress Shop and for Giardini's Restaurants in Winchendon. She also worked for Ray Plastics as an assembler.

She loved to knit and sew; she was an avid reader and a lifelong resident of Winchendon. She truly loved spending time with her family.

A private graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.

WINCHENDON - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street for Michael G. Mansfield, 69, who died January 7, 2022.

JONATHAN M. McGIVERN
April 18, 1992 ~ May 23, 2022 (Age 30)

ATHOL, MA - Jonathan Michael McGivern, 30, of Main Street, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Athol Hospital.

Born in Gardner on April 18, 1992, he was the son of Kevin M. and Margaret (Doucette) McGivern and grew up in Winchendon and attended school in Baldwinville and Gardner.

Jonathan loved the outdoors, especially riding bikes with his nephews and niece or on dirt bikes. He also enjoyed tinkering with things and spending time with his beloved dog, "Ginger".

Family was of the upmost importance to Jonathan and he cherished being with all of the family members and will be sadly missed by everyone.

Jonathan is survived by his mother and step father, Margaret McGivern and Edward St. Peter of Athol; his siblings, Timothy Doucette and his fiancée, Nicole Richard, of Webster, Mark McGivern Jr. and his fiancée, Melissa Chapman, of Gardner, Christina Fitzpatrick and her husband, Chris, of Athol, Josh Patterson of Texas, Alicia Blanchard and her husband, Jeremy, of Athol, and Lance McGivern of Gardner; step brothers, Matthew St. Peter of Gardner and Kyle St. Peter of New Hampshire; a step sister, Jessica Fowler and her husband, Matthew, of New Hampshire; many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, aunts, including his close and special aunt Diane Blake of Athol, uncles and cousins.

Jonathan was predeceased by his father, Kevin McGivern, his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Mary Doucette Sr., his paternal grandparents, Harold McGivern Sr. and Nettie Almina and Ronald Jakola, as well as an uncle, Mark McGivern Sr.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

There are no formal services.

The family asks that donations in Jonathan's name be sent to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

Adella Wierstak

ADELLA (DABULIEWICZ) WIERSTAK
March 16, 1930 ~ May 28, 2022 (Age 92)

WINCHENDON, Adella M. Wierstak, 92, died Saturday, May 28, 2022 after a short illness. Her best friend Debbie Howson was by her side, as well as friends Dianne and Gene Piurkowski, and caring staff of Gardner Nursing Home.

Adella was born in Winchendon on March 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Joseph and Honorata (Cieslak) Dabuliewicz. She was a 1948 graduate of Murdock High School and went on to Becker College in Worcester, majoring in accounting. In 1951, she married Edward Desmarais. The young couple was known locally for raising German shepherd pups. Adella also worked at the Winchendon Hospital and in a dress shop as an accountant.

A few years after Edward's death, Adella married Charles Wierstak and lived in Worcester until his death in 1993, when she returned to the family homestead in Winchendon.

In her later years, Adella loved feeding birds and wildlife, and caring for the many stray cats that she rescued. She volunteered at the Winchendon cat shelter, enjoyed socializing at the Senior Center, and discussing current events with her "crew" at Dunkin' Donuts. She spent countless sunny days chatting with her best friend and loyal advocate, Debbie Howson.

Adella is predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Joseph and Walter; and two sisters, Mary, and Helen (Lepkowski).

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.

VINCENT D. LEGER
November 13, 1938 ~ May 24, 2022 (Age 83)

Vincent "Vince" Donald Leger, 83, of Winchendon, died peacefully Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, with his family by his side.

Born in Ste. Marie de Kent, NB, on November 13, 1938, he was the son of the late Edward and Anne Marie Cormier. Following his mother's passing in 1947, he was adopted by Francis and Emilda (Leclair) Leger and raised in Fitchburg. He graduated from St. Bernard's High School with the Class of 1957 and in 1959 he received an Associate of Science Degree in Boston. Vince was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1959 to 1962, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. Vince was a real estate broker and the owner of Vince Leger Realty in San Diego County until his retirement.

Vince was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Winchendon. He was a member of the Gardner Lodge of Elks, Gardner Fish and Gun Club, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Winchendon. Vince enjoyed playing golf and tennis, as well as Senior League Softball. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping. Vince's greatest joy was his family, always treasuring the special moments they had together.

Vince is survived by his wife of 23-years, Dorilla "Dori" (Cormier) Allain Leger of Winchendon; a daughter, Carolyn Leger Nye of Pine Valley, CA; a stepson, David Allain and his wife Ann of Leominster; two grandchildren, Cristen and Mychal Boerman; two step-grandchildren, Michael Allain and Jennifer Tisdale; step great-grandchild, Daphne Allain; two sisters, Gloria Richard and her husband Omer of Gardner, and Marie Packard and her husband Charles of Ashburnham; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Esther (Campell) Leger, who died in 1997; two brothers, Norman Cormier and Gerald "Gerry" Leger; and two sisters, Bernice Racette and Doris Collette.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon, MA. Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 474 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg, MA will be private.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

GAIL A. DONAWAY
November 29, 1943 ~ June 1, 2022 (Age 78)

WINCHENDON - Gail A. Robideau) Donaway, 78, of Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

She was born in Marlboro, MA on November 29, 1943, daughter of the late George and Gladys (Whitmore) Robideau and lived in Winchendon 60 years.

Gail worked at Harrington Richardson for many years as an assembler until her retirement in 2008. She was an active member of Cornerstone Church of Assemblies of God in Winchendon. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time and babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had earned her GED from Mount Wachusett Community College.

Her husband of 49 years, Kenneth M. Donaway, died in 2012. She leaves a son, Kenneth M. Donaway Jr and his wife Laurie of Orange; two brothers, George Robideau Jr of Athol and James Robideau of Athol; one sister, Karen Leggio of FL; four grandchildren, Jonathan Lema Jr, Joshua Lema, Patrick Donaway and Hayley Donaway; 4 great grandchildren, Alivia Lema, Landon Lema, Lincoln Lema and Jeremyah Lema and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Lema, two sisters, Judith Gauthier and Nancy Young and a brother, William Robideau.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will precede the funeral Monday from 10 to 11 A.M.

Funeral services will be webcast and may be viewed on the funeral home website.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
