Richard Tkaczyk

RICHARD TKACZYK
February 18, 2022 (Age 79)

Richard Tkaczyk

Richard "Dickie" Tkaczyk passed away on February 18th, 2022 at the age of 79 in Deerfield, NH. Dickie faced his battle with cancer, the way he faced all of life's challenges, with resolute courage, earning the respect of all who cared for him. His wife, Anne, and all three children, Carrie-Ann, Brent, and Diana, were with him at the end.

Born in Gardner, MA to Chester and Albertine Sezlak Tkaczyk, he grew up with his brother, Gary. When Dickie was in middle school he met the love of his life, Anne P. Marquis, and they were married in 1961 after Anne graduated from high school and while Dickie served in the military in Jacksonville, Florida. Their song was "Young Love" by Sonny James. True to the lyrics, they both experienced "just one love in this whole world." More than anything, Dickie's wife and children were always at the center. Dickie also dearly loved his pets, especially his dog, Jenny, who was also with him at the end.

Though he grew up in Winchendon, Massachusetts, Dickie also lived in New Hampshire, Florida, North Carolina, and Oregon. Dickie's attraction to the South was tied to his love of the sun, but at heart, he was a New Englander. Dickie valued hard work and his accomplishments were as vast as the cords of wood that corralled his property. After serving in the navy, Dickie worked at the New Hampshire Ball Bearings, first on mainframe computers and later as a manager. He held many other positions such as realtor, property manager, and business owner. He had many interests, but his greatest pleasures were restoring homes and his beloved 1957 T-Bird. In every endeavor, he was driven by a Thoreau-like call for a life well-lived. Dickie's life was testimony to Thoreau's words, “Be true to your work, your word, and your friend.”

He was survived by his wife, Anne Tkaczyk, until her passing on May 18th. His three children and brother survive him. Daughter, Carrie-Ann Tkaczyk, and son-in-law Dwayne Canfield; granddaughter, Coranna Akdemirbey, and step grandchildren, Madison and Blake Canfield. Son, Brent Tkaczyk, and daughter-in-law, Amy Brennan Tkaczyk; grandsons, Luke and Tyler Tkaczyk. Daughter, Diana Tkaczyk Russo, and son-in-law, Chris Russo; grandsons, Owen and Quinn Russo. Brother, Gary Tkaczyk, and sister-in-law Karen Tkaczyk.

Dickie will be honored at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the town he grew up in, Winchendon, MA. Any donations can be made in her name to The Inn at Deerfield Assisted Living, 34 Ridge Rd, Deerfield, NH 03037. The family welcomes friends and family to join them for a Celebration of Life for both Dickie and Anne on July 5th at the Cathedral of the Pines from 3 to 6 pm. Requested attire is party shirts or tropical clothing because Anne and Dickie loved a good party.

Anne Tkaczyk

ANNE PHILLIPA MARQUIS TKACZYK
May 18, 2022 (Age 77)

Anne Tkaczyk

Anne Phillipa Marquis Tkaczyk passed away on May 18th, 2022 at the age of 77 in Deerfield, NH. Anne loved ice cream and would have appreciated that she passed peacefully resting after eating a bowl of her favorite cold treat. Anne, whose life maxim was, "I want everyone to be happy," would have wanted such a quiet, peaceful end. She didn't like it when anyone suffered. Anne and her husband, united in life, are now in death; she followed her husband, Richard "Dickie" Tkaczyk by three months to the day. This, too, she would have wanted.

Born in Winchendon, MA to Phillip and Coranna Laflam Marquis, Anne talked nostalgically of her childhood on Glenallen Street, playing marbles with her siblings, being sung to by her father, and experiencing the encompassing love of her mother. Anne was a life-long walker, a habit she picked up in childhood when she and her siblings and friends walked all over Winchendon from exploring the old castle in the woods to hanging out at the Clark Memorial. Before she married her childhood sweetheart, Anne won the title of Ms. Winchendon in the town beauty contest. Even at the end, Anne was beautiful, but to those who knew her, her inner light shone even brighter.

When Anne was in middle school she met Dickie at a dance. Anne loved to dance and certainly that first sight of her on the dance floor never left him because he always swore that from the first moment he saw her, he knew he wanted to marry her. Anne was more fun loving than her serious boyfriend and didn't think she was ready to settle down. However, while serving in the Navy in Florida, Dickie's appendix nearly burst and Anne flew with both his mother and hers to see him. He asked her to marry him from the hospital, and they were married in 1961 right after Anne graduated. She followed him to Florida, but they returned after his service ended and lived in Winchendon, Rindge, and Jaffrey for over two decades while Dickie worked at the NH Ball Bearings and Anne raised their three children. Mostly a stay-at-home mother, Anne also worked some jobs, her longest being a dental assistant to Dr. Nieskens in Peterborough. She loved working with the public and relished meeting people and learning their stories.

In 1990, Anne and Dickie moved from New England and lived in Florida, North Carolina, and Oregon. For Anne, these places meant less to her than her family. No matter where they lived, she created a home. She had an uncanny ability to turn any situation into something fun. A North Carolina hurricane became an opportunity to light candles and play board games, or if one of her children had a bad day, she would take them to the movies. She always found a way to keep her inner flame aglow and all that knew her drew from her warmth.

Anne was preceded by her husband, Dickie. She is survived by her siblings and three children. Daughter, Carrie-Ann Tkaczyk, and son-in-law Dwayne Canfield; granddaughter, Coranna Akdemirbey, and step grandchildren, Madison and Blake Canfield. Son, Brent Tkaczyk, and daughter-in-law, Amy Brennan Tkaczyk; grandsons, Luke and Tyler Tkaczyk. Daughter, Diana Tkaczyk Russo, and son-in-law, Chris Russo; grandsons, Owen and Quinn Russo. Sister, Janice Marquis Raymond, and brother-in-law Ronnie Raymond. Brother, Phillip "Buddy" Marquis, and sister-in-law Patricia Adams Marquis. Sister, Gina Marquis Penney, and brother-in-law Robert Penney.

In July, Anne will be honored alongside her husband at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the town she grew up in and her ashes interred in the cemetery on Glenallen, the one street she always held close to her heart. Any donations can be made in her name to The Inn at Deerfield Assisted Living, 34 Ridge Rd, Deerfield, NH 03037. The family welcomes friends and family to join the Celebration of Life for both Anne and Dickie on July 5th at the Cathedral of the Pines from 3 to 6 pm. Requested attire is party shirts or tropical clothing because Anne and Dickie loved a good party.
