JAFFREY, New Hampshire (October 27, 2021) Only a handful of actors are so well known for their horror films that they have achieved icon status. At the top of that list is Boris Karloff. He defined the Frankenstein monster in the epic Universal film in 1931 and created immortal performances in The Mummy and dozens of others. He was also a versatile performer. He provided his distinctive voice to the original animated Grinch character, and generations of fans have come to love him.

As part of its Halloweek Fest, The Park Theatre in Jaffrey will debut a new documentary about the life of this iconic actor, BORIS KARLOFF: The Man Behind The Monster, on Friday, October 29 at 7:30. It will screen for three nights at the same time nightly in the 77-seat King Auditorium at the performing arts center.

Drawing from dozens of interviews including Guillermo Del Toro, John Landis, Roger Corman, Sara Karloff, Peter Bogdanovich, Christopher Plummer, Stefanie Powers, Lee Grant, Sir Christopher Frayling, Kevin Brownlow, some of whom have never discussed their time with Boris, and never released audio of Karloff himself, BORIS KARLOFF: The Man Behind the Monster takes us to the heart of the man, with a gripping, intimate portrait of Karloff and the genre he helped define. Thomas Hamilton directed this entertaining and enlightening film.

Tickets are $9 & $8. They can be purchased at theparktheatre.org, calling the theatre's box office (603) 532-8888 or at the box office window. The theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey at 19 Main Street, just 90 minutes from Boston.
