"We are extremely proud of the Sizer School graduating class of 2022. They have faced unprecedented challenges for the last two years, and their strength, kindness, and courage have really come shining forward. We are very excited for Graduation and to see what our Seniors do next!" said Sizer School Executive Director, Michelle Paranto.

Sizer School will be holding this year's Graduation Ceremony on June 8th, 2022 at Sizer School.

Sizer School, located at 500 Rindge Road in Fitchburg, is a free, public charter school serving students in grades seven through twelve. As a North Central Charter Essential School, Sizer students are known personally, challenged intellectually, and participate actively in their learning. Guided by its commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, the school seeks to send graduates into the world who think for themselves, care about others, and act creatively and responsibly.

On Thursday, May 26th, Seniors and their families joined together for an awards ceremony and picnic to honor the Class of 2022. Teachers and staff gave out specialized awards to students based on effort, personality and academic achievements. On Friday, May 27th, Sizer held its annual Senior Celebration Community Meeting. The whole school - students and staff - watched as the Class of 2022 were awarded honors and scholarships.

PTSO Scholarships were given to Lily Noon of Townsend, Dylan Mercier of Gardner and Piper Daley of Fitchburg. The "Not Your Average Scholarship" was awarded to Roman Roy of Fitchburg, Mackenzie Pupecki of Leominster, Piper Daley and Megan DeRienze of Leominster. Health Sciences Awards were given to Odette Amoakoheneof Fitchburg, Nevaeh Yang of Fitchburg and Lily Noon. The John K. Grady Craftsperson Scholarship was given to Roman Roy. Earlier this year, Roy was also honored as a Rotary Student of the Month. The Sizer Boost Scholarship was awarded to Piper Daley. The Sizer 6 Scholarship was awarded to Lily Noon. The Principal's Award was given to Antonio Ferriera of Fitchburg.

Senior Odette Amoakohene of Fitchburg and 8th Grade student Benjamin Gonzalez, also of Fitchburg, were given the Gallo Book Award.

Sizer's highest honor, the THINK CARE ACT Medal, was awarded to Keisha Pabon Gerena of Fitchburg. She was presented the medal by last year's winner Libbie Susman of Winchendon, Class of 2021.

After the awards and honors were given out, Sizer held its annual Cording Ceremony. The Cording Ceremony has juniors present each senior with the braided cords that they will wear on graduation day. This ceremony is symbolic as it is when the senior class acknowledges that the juniors are the new leaders of the school in front of the entire community.

"It is so exciting to have this rich tradition back after a long hiatus," said Alyson Cordio, Sizer's Performing Arts Teacher and Community Meeting Director. "It honors the hard work our seniors have accomplished, sets the bar for the incoming seniors, and reminds us of our commitment to our community."

Mount Wachusett Community College Early College Graduation Awards Diplomas to 38 Students and Associates Degrees to 23 Students

GARDNER, MA -- June 6, 2022 -- Mount Wachusett Community College's Early College programs, Gateway to College and Pathways Early College Experience, held a graduation ceremony on Friday, May 20, 2022, to honor the 38 students graduating with their high school diplomas from partner Gardner Public Schools, 23 of whom also earned their associate degree.

"You are each going to face challenges in your lives, there is no way around it. As you move forward, wherever your next chapter takes you, I want you to focus on the process and skills that you utilized to overcome the challenges you faced during your education here," MWCC President James Vander Hooven told graduates. "Those problem-solving skills will be relevant and necessary at every stage of your life. Look at the challenges you face as opportunities and depend upon one another as you have done these past few years to get through them. You will always find more success when you depend upon others, ask for help, and stand up next to one another for support."

"This college has uplifted Gardner Public Schools in a way that is hard to describe and will keep going forward for years to come. I am thrilled we can be a part of these phenomenal programs," said Gardner Public Schools Superintendent, Mark Pelligrino. "Not everyone chooses the harder options in life, knowing they will lead to more work and more challenges, but you did it. You made the bold and courageous decision; your choice is an action that speaks to who you are, how you choose throughout your life matters. You chose a demanding program, and that decision should be celebrated. Let your success today drive out your fears and inform your decisions tomorrow."
